Check out these cute bridal shower cupcakes! The FAB Jen from theBlahblahblahger.com contacted me about an order for mini cupcakes for a bridal shower she was hosting. The theme was Retro Housewife. I found these cupcake toppers on Etsy but at 3" they were too big so I asked for a custom order to make them 2". I was worried they might still be too big but they were perfect! And so freakin cute and right on theme. The other dozen were decorated in red and pink polka dots. The two flavors were Tea Time and XOXO.
Thanks for the great pics Jen!

Giant Gluten-free Cupcake
I was asked to make a giant cupcake gluten-free for a little boy's 2nd birthday. He had never had cake before! The theme for the birthday was Disney's Cars. Since I am not a artist, I had to make something showcasing the other elements of the movie rather than make something look like Lightning McQueen.
The cupcake wrapper is made with candy melts in orange, red and yellow to match the fire on McQueen's car. And the lightning bolts are made with fondant tinted yellow to also match McQueen's car. And I found these cute cupcake rings of Tow Mater and Lightning McQueen that I put around the edge. And the frosting is a simple vanilla buttercream. What you can't see is the inside of the cake! It's filled with a mix of buttercream and mini chocolate chips. YUM!
Everything was gluten-free and the reviews were great! Even gluten eaters liked the cake. Success! And a little boy finally got to eat cake.

Weddings On Ice Bridal Show & Party Planning Expo
I am a bridal show virgin. My first one is coming up, called Weddings on Ice, and I am so excited and nervous! I've been preparing for it since June. I want my table to be perfect. I've been searching for table decorations and trying to create a table scape that will reflect my personality and my business.

(photo from Kara's site)
I knew I had to try and emulate it as much as possible. I have a 6' conference style table at the event so I am definitely going to copy her tablecloth look. I don't know if I can have the striped fabric behind me though. Still need to check on that. I am going to have some regular sized cupcakes out for display only and then trays of mini cupcakes for brides and grooms to sample. I will also have a couple of photo albums, one at each end of the table, with pics of my cupcakes. Or I could just set up my laptop for people to view my Flickr cupcake set. What do you think?
I've also created these little giveaways

Cello bags filled with pink and blue jimmies and stickers with my name and website url. Question is, how many do I make? I have 100 bags but only 80 stickers.
Should I have little bottles of water too? I don't have time or money to personalize anything right now. I won't even have shirts or aprons with my logo on them. I am going to try and make a sign with my logo on it and stick it to some foam core so I have some sort of signage. No money. :( So I hope that doesn't hurt me as a business. I will have a cupcake apron on but it's just a Jessie Steele one

Is there anything else I am missing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated from my fellow businesses out there who've attended Bridal shows.
And now for the info....

Hope you had a GREAT 4th!
Hope everyone had a great 4th of July! We spent the afternoon visiting friends up in LA. The guys BBQed while my friend Elizabeth and I chatted and I colored with Emory, their 2 1/2 yr old daughter. We thought we were going to miss out on the fireworks because we started to head home right around 9p but instead we saw the most amazing displays as we drove down the 5. We saw so many fireworks going off all around from parks and people's backyards. Some were going off right above the freeway and right in front of us. We even joked that maybe we should do this every year.
I wanted to congratulate Julie and Alyssa with winning the giveaways hosted by AngryJulieMonday and The Mom Blog on the OC Register! I hope you both enjoyed your cupcakes and that your guests enjoyed them as well!
Here are a few pics of the cupcakes that I made for the 4th:

One half of the year is already over. Can you believe it?!?
